Review of last school year and plans for the next one!
The school year ended with a big celebration where the parents of our 313 students were present as the children received their school reports. The parents and children were so happy!
Our manioc is getting sold in spite of some difficulties because some people from the village stole quite a bit of it and are selling it in Mushapo below the normal price. This forces us to sell ours in Tshikapa, and because we have to pay the bicycle transporters for this trip, the income for this harvest is much lower than expected.
Since Jean hadn’t left Mushapo for a long time, he takes a well-deserved vacation in this holiday season and visits his family in Kinshasa. During this time Pierre, our school director, is in charge of our operation in Mushapo.
Wolfgang returned from his two months road trip in Germany and it was nice for our little family to be reunited again. We spent a few days with Lenka’s parents at their weekend house in a small village outside of Prague. We are very thankful for their help with Anissa during Lenka’s second operation. As we mentioned in our last note, her operation went well and she is slowing coming back to good health. Lenka wrote something about this special experience which we want to share with you in today’s “Vitamins for the Heart”.
Jos is visiting us in Prague at the moment so we can make plans for the next steps in Congo which we want to present to our ADH Congo members Gilbert, Andre and Mpona. We are also going over the finances that were spent for our project in the last 6 months and prepare a new budget for the next half year. Jean, our local manager for Mushapo, send us a proposal for that.
Wolfgang will be flying on the 4th of September to Kinshasa, and Lenka is planning to come a month later with Anissa if all goes well with her continued recovery.
We wish you a nice summer time and send greetings from Prague,
Wolfgang, Lenka, Anissa and Jos
